The World AIDS Day was observed on December 1, 2008, supported by Malteser International, keeping the theme of UNAIDS "Youth and leadership". We conducted a Torch bearing Marathon rally by students from Kanyakumari to Nagercoil.  Around 300 students participated in the rally. It was inaugurated by Member of Parliament Shri. A.V. Bellarmin. The students raised slogans all along the way and mini meetings and cultural events were conducted at all major junctions which attracted many viewers. The rally ended at Nagaraja temple grounds where the District Panchayat Chairman Mrs. Ajitha Manothangaraj was the chief guest. The importance of increasing the involvement of youth in awareness creations was the major aim of the program. We believe these 300 students will certainly involve in prevention activities among their peers.

CSR conducted another AIDS / Health awareness Rally in the month of December 2008 at Thiruchendur.  Mr. N.Samiduraivelu Asst. Superintendent of Police, Dr. J. N. G. Dhivakaran, MBBS.,DCH., Mr. C.Chandrasekaran, Veerapandianpattinam Rural Panchayat president participated and motivated the SHG members about prevention of AIDS. The Assistant Superintend of police flagged off the awareness rally. Nearly 3000 SHG members participated in the program.
