Assistance : The
programme is supported by APAC and USAID. APAC has recognized
CSR and awarded the status of Resource and Training Centre
on Traditional Media.
Objective : To
train and build the capacity of NGOs to perform effective
street plays, Kolattam and other traditional media to create
awareness among people.
Target area : Eight Districts
of South TamilNadu
Activities :
To materialize this end, the trainings were
offered to the staff of NGOs and other development activists
. The trainings focused on:
Creative writing of songs and script
Effective experimentation of songs and scripts
Training to analyse the various art forms in generating
awareness
Script development and drama writing
The skill enhancement was carried on at different level.

Demonstration
and Study center for Capacity building of NGOs
Assistance : The
programme on 'the study center for capacity building of NGOs
was sponsored and assisted by APAC.
Objective : The
primary goal of the training at the study centre is to enhance
the capacity of the staff of NGOs, to implement intervention
programme among WIP and to prevent and control STI,HIV/AIDS.
Target area : Throughout India
Focus on : NGO representatives
Generally a five days residential training
with lecture, group discussion, group exercise, field visit,
demonstration, role play, problem based learning, case study
analysis, simulation games and programmed learning is conducted.
The participants are given opportunities for exposure visits
to make them get first hand information about the targeted
people and to get exposed to intervention programme among
WIPs.
A variety of audio visual aids such as LCD,
OHP, IEC materials were used. The training given in the study
centre is comparable to international standard.
The participants consisted of a wide variety
of staff such as field educators, counsellors, project co-ordinators,
programme managers, doctors, nurses, public health experts
and policy planners from many parts of India.
Capacity Building of NGOs on HIV/AIDS Prevention & Care and Support
Assistance : The project is assisted by AIDS Prevention & Control Project, Chennai
Objective :
To organise training workshops to the representatives of NGOs on HIV/AIDS prevention and Care & support
ensure their involvement and commitment in prevention, care & support
To build the capacity of the NGOs in implementing their programs more effectively
To follow up the NGOs and provide guidance and technical support in the implementation of the programmed activities
Target area: Southern 8 districts of Tamilnadu
Focus on :100 NGO Heads
CSR organised 5 days residential training programme at CSR Training centre, Kanyakumari with 25 to 30 NGOs in each batch. Totally 4 batches of training was arranged. First three batches were organized for Non HIV NGOs and the last batch was for the HIV NGOs. Participatory methodologies were adopted during the training. 100 NGOs from Madurai Region participated in the training.
